About Dr. Alex

Dr. Alyssandria (Alex) Hadden graduated from the 3-year full-time course of study at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 2009. As well as being a licensed, registered acupuncturist, Dr. Alex has been an accredited practitioner of Western Alternative Medicine since 2004, and holds double accreditations from the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing as both a Master Herbalist and Holistic Therapist.

She also earned degrees in English and Education from the University of Calgary, and taught adult education for 15 years. Before retiring to pursue her interests in medicine, she worked for 7 years as a Life Skills Instructor for Bow Valley College.

Her teaching experience means she is always ready to explain her treatments and answer questions from her patients.

Dr. Alex has a particular interest in Infertility, Menopause, and Menstrual Issues, as well as Mental Wellness, though she continues to be fascinated by every health problem she encounters.

"My own health issues in my early twenties led me to explore Alternative Medicine, and after having alleviated a lot of my own problems with herbal remedies and nutritional supplement therapy, I enrolled in a 2 year program at the Wild Rose College here in Calgary. I received my certifications as both a Master Herbalist and Holistic Therapist.

Bringing these new skills to my work as an educator allowed me to become a Life Skills Instructor at Bow Valley College, where I taught classes in Stress Management, Overcoming Anxiety, Conflict Resolution, and Diet and Nutrition. My program was aimed at helping people successfully deal with a wide variety of personal, social, emotional, and physical issues with the goal of creating happy, healthy lives for themselves.

As my students learned, so did I. Eventually, I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and retired from teaching to enroll full-time at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. As a licensed and registered Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I continue to be fascinated by the way the human body is so willing to heal itself when given the appropriate guidance, and still love sharing in my patient's successes.
